Holly P: Electrical Team Lead
We recently interviewed Holly P. the electrical sub-team lead of Team 3181. This is part of a series on the Team 3181 Blog. The series profiles team members and what they do on the team.
FRC Team 3181
Holly enjoys interacting with the other sub-teams. She enjoys working with people who have different interests and knowledge. When asked about FRC 2018 Holly talked about climbing. Climbing has been a challenge for team 3181 over the last three years and the team has dedicated significant resources to the climbing solution this season. “I think getting our robot to climb will be the most challenging task to accomplish, but I also think itʼs one of the most important things our robot could do during a match.” There is an added difficulty this season since three robots have to climb on a small rung and the team is hard at work trying to provide a mechanism for allowing all three teams to climb.
In addition to being the electrical sub-team lead Holly is the vice president of the team this season. She has been instrumental in helping the team improve its organization and communication. While there have been many important things learned over her three years on the team Holly recognizes that learning compromise and cooperate as key elements to team success. She said, “You have to compromise, and cooperate with other people and sub-teams to be successful.”
Who is Holly?
Holly’s favorite food are Cannoli. “My favorite kind of Cannoli are the ones with chocolate chips in them. I usually get them from Wegmans, but they’re good no matter where they come from.” When asked about music Holly took a brief pause to shuffle through artists in her head. She replied, “Marianas Trench is one of my favorite bands. Every time I listen to one of their songs, I notice something in it I had not noticed before.” Holly was inspired by the Lord of the Rings movies and intends to study film in college. “I watched all the behind the scenes to show the making of Middle Earth. The Battle of Helms Deep impressed me the most. The movies were a big part of me wanting to go into film.” Her favorite subject in school is Art. “I like being able to use all the different materials to draw, paint and create.”
